Public Input Opportunities
Why you should get involved?
Do you have an opinion on how the county should grow? Are there certain things you would like to see in San Benito County in the future? Are you concerned about issues like adequate housing, job growth, transportation, farming, and the environment? Then you can help plan the future of San Benito County!
The public outreach program extends throughout the General Plan Update effort and provides interested parties numerous opportunities to participate in the Update process and express their opinions about the future of San Benito County. It is the County's desire to reach a broad spectrum of the community, including residents, landowners, businesses, service groups, ethnic groups, youth, seniors, and various stakeholders groups.
How to get involved!
There are several ways interested parties can follow or participate in the General Plan Update:
Website
This General Plan Update website will be regularly updated with information on the status of the project.
Newsletters
The County will periodically publish newsletters during the General Plan Update that will inform the community on the progress of the Update and announce upcoming meetings and publications of milestone reports. The newsletters will be published in hard copy form and made available on-line.
Community Workshops/Open Houses
The County will hold a series of community workshops at several points in the process to gain input on plan alternatives and the General Plan documents. Dates and locations will be posted on the Workshops and Meetings page once they are scheduled.
E-Updates
The County will build a database of e-mail addresses collected from various sources (e.g., General Plan Update website, stakeholder interviews, community workshops, and other sources) and send out e-mails to the entire contact list at key points in the process to keep the community current on the Update, maintain their interest, and create greater turn-out for community workshops and other outreach efforts. Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission Joint Study Sessions
The Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission will meet several times during the General Plan Update to review milestone products and provide feedback to the General Plan Consultants and staff. Dates and locations will be posted on the Workshops and Meetings page once they are scheduled.
Adoption Hearings
The Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors will hold public hearings at the end of the update. These hearings will provide an opportunity for interested parties to provide feedback on the Draft General Plan and Environmental Impact Report (EIR) prior to their adoption. Dates and locations will be posted on the Workshops and Meetings page once they are scheduled.
